Las Vegas news gets raw with the launch of RawVegas.tv

CATEGORIZED AS: Gossip , News

Watch out Eye Witness news team, there's a new "sexier" kid on the block, RawVegas.tv. A pure play Internet news and information site launched January 19, 2007, RawVegas.tv has the looks and the scoop.

Anchorwoman Denise Pernula dishes out the daily news with a unique perspective. And I have to say, I like it. If you’re tired of watching the same apartment complex go up in flames or view the scene of a recent shooting, then this news is for you. The lighthearted approach, appealing eye-candy and clean digital video just work.

In their first-ever newscast, hot topics such as the valley's water shortage, the UMC debacle and Paula Abdul's strange behavior were reported.

Ms. Pernula even gave some good advice on conserving water in the valley, “Ban wet t-shirt contests, shower with a friend, drink more liquor.”

With this type of well informed journalism, a tech-savvy approach and a little luck, we may have just found a replacement for the bland evening news.

Check out the site at RawVegas.tv.

The Apprentice to focus on Las Vegas Trump Tower II

CATEGORIZED AS: Gossip

Those of you who can’t get enough of the folliclly challenged Donald Trump have to wait till January to get your weekly fill of The Donald. That’s when season six of The Apprentice begins on NBC.

There have been a couple recent developments in Donald Land.

carolyn_kepcher.jpgA couple weeks ago 36 year-old Carolyn Kepcher heard the familiar words, “you’re fired!” In addition to her gig as Donald’s Apprentice sidekick, Kepcher was running the Trump National Golf Club in the quaint village of Briarcliff Manor (Westchester County, N.Y.) and helping supervise the Trump National in Bedminster, N.J.

Apparently the newfound celebrity status went to her head and split her focus. I’m sure it’s difficult to maintain a career in the Trump organization and seek audience with Hollywood producers at the same time. Trump played his namesake card, saying ciao to the self-assured blonde.

Attending the Jewelry Show at the Mirage

CATEGORIZED AS: Gossip

I just attended the ASD/AMD Jewelry Show at the Mirage last week. I forget how spoiled we are with the outstanding customer service that we usually find living here in Las Vegas.

While there were some very kind, helpful and endearing vendors, the majority of the people working at the show this year seemed to have an attitude of, “Oh, damn! Customers! I wish everyone would just go away. Stupid people!”

The energy at the show had always been very high, much like a crowded bazaar in a small country. This year, it was really hard work to shop the different vendors, looking for incentives for my business as well as some trinkets and gifts.

Hispanic fury over the Señorita México Las Vegas competition on Dec. 18

CATEGORIZED AS: Gossip

If hell has no fury like that of a woman scorned, a corollary would be that the fury of mothers and daughters defrauded in a beauty contest carries formidable impact.

The buzz in the Las Vegas Valley Hispanic community since the Señorita México Las Vegas competition last Dec. 18 in the Stardust Hotel has been about promises made and promises undelivered. Target of the feminine fury is the organizer, one such Adaluz International and its representatives, Jenny Bolívar and Adán Pérez.

Mothers, fathers and sponsors are in the fray; not the least of the latter is the weekly tabloid El Tiempo, a Stephens Media Group Spanish-language entry claiming 10 years of publication. Telemundo Spanish-language TV network and Univisión Radio — with one AM and two FM Las Vegas stations — also were contest sponsors.
