CCSN marks 35-year Legacy of Achievement on April 29
Thirty-five years of educational excellence and alumni success will be celebrated in a “Legacy of Achievement” by the Community College of Southern Nevada on April 29 at Caesars Palace.
Hosted by the CCSN Foundation, Inc., the gala community salute to the college in the Caesars Ballroom features a champagne reception and gourmet dinner, with auction prizes, musical entertainment and special program, according to Foundation Chair Jenny DesVaux Oakes.
CCSN President Dr. Richard Carpenter and Kara Kelly, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce president, will chair the event. Nevada Power is the event presenting sponsor for the gourmet dinner with President Pat Shalmy as emcee.
Cocktail and champagne receptions are sponsored by Rhodes Homes and Nevada Title, with the Las Vegas Hospitality Association helping provide silent auction and live auction prizes valued at $50,000. Auction highlights include: gemstone necklaces valued up to $5,000, a priceless gourmet dinner for 12 prepared by four-star chefs, fantasy trips at $2,500 and priceless AKC purebred yellow Labrador pups.
Tickets are $250 per person and available through the CCSN Foundation by calling (702) 651-7301 or (702) 651-7924. Proceeds will directly support CCSN academic programs and student scholarships.
The Foundation has raised more than $12 million for such purposes over the last eight years.
CCSN educates a professional and technology workforce that helps drives the region’s dynamic economic development, growth and prosperity. Now Nevada’s largest institution of higher education, CCSN opened in 1971 as Clark County Community College with 402 students and, two years later, marked its first commencement with 32 graduates.
