Vegas Grand Prix looking for volunteers

vegasgrandprix.JPGThe Vegas Grand Prix is coming to our great city April 6-8, 2007. With the money that follows the uber-rich on the Grand Prix Circuit, Las Vegas looks to rake it in, like in Denver where it brought their city millions in non-gaming revenue on its stop in that wonderful city. I would like to be an optimist and say if a city like Denver can get millions for hosting their event, then with all our city has to offer we will easily make a hundred million in “non-gaming” revenue. As not to be left out in the cold, I’m sure the ‘gaming’ section will get its hands on a few more dollars that weekend than her ‘non-gaming’ sister. The uber-rich that follow the Grand Prix circuit will leave piles of cash at every place they stop.

So as not to make everyone think the Vegas Grand Prix is for the uber-rich only, tickets range in cost from $12 (in advance) for Friday to $175 for a 3-day pass with a reserved seat and pit pass. I am not getting on the NASCAR people but they only have to avoid making right hand turns in their style of racing where in the Grand Prix there are 14 different turns (left and right) that these drivers will need to navigate to get a checkered flag.

It is scheduled to be the season opening event for the 2007 Champ Car World Series.

There will be other events to attend during the race such as concerts, boxing, a poker tournament, etc., located downtown. To see where the track is and what other events are available that weekend, go to on VegasGrandPrix.com.

If you would like to get in on this bit of history for free, check out VegasGrandPrix.com and see how your help can make this event prosperous for everyone. The promoters of the event will be giving out a good bit of swag to its volunteers so get yours before it’s all gone.

To compare NASCAR to Champ Car World Series:

Car Weight
NASCAR: over 3,000 pounds
CCWS: 1,385 pounds

Horse Power
NASCAR: 800 hp
CCWS: 725 to 800 hp

Average Speed
NASCAR: 139 mph around an oval track
CCWS: 120 mph thru 14 killer turns

As you can see, there will be awesome speed flowing through the streets of downtown in a few weeks, and I don’t mean the speed that some people think they add by putting an empty can on their little rice-burners.
