CCSN student draws winning Scion key at 35th birthday party

scion.jpgThe Community College of Southern Nevada and a handful of partners welcomed the community Saturday to celebrate the CCSN 35th anniversary.

Desert Toyota Scion and CCSN joined forces to sponsor the CCSN 35th Anniversary Scion Sweepstakes which culminated in a drawing for more than 100 qualified contestants for one lucky winner. Each entry that was drawn had the opportunity to select a key from a large bin. The drawings began shortly before 1 p.m. and culminated at 2 p.m. when the winning key was drawn.

Tonya Jackson, a sophomore at CCSN, was the lucky winner. She was given the opportunity to choose between one of three Scion models. She chose the tC model in pearl blue.

“We’re happy to contribute to CCSN’s 35th anniversary by donating a Scion to be given away as part of the celebration,” said Kalei Dudoit, general manager of Desert Toyota Scion.

Other community partners included 98.5 KLUC, The CW Las Vegas, MY LV TV, X107.5, and Las Vegas Weekly. Lunch was also donated by Claim Jumper and live music by Sideshow.

“For some reason the key didn’t start the car on the first try, but it worked the second time,” said Jackson. “I can’t believe I won the car!”

The crowd of nearly 500 enjoyed birthday cake, lunch and a host of raffle prizes on the sunny February Saturday afternoon.

Happy birthday to CCSN and congratulations on 35 years of quality education.
