Simpson back in court for Sept. 13 Las Vegas robbery
O.J. Simpson is back in Las Vegas today for the preliminary hearing for the Sept. 13 robbery of two sports memorabilia collectors.
Simpson, Charles Erlich and Clarence Stewart are each facing 12 charges stemming from the incident, including robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. The kidnapping conviction alone could lead to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Three other co-defendants, Michael McClinton, Walter Alexander and Charles Cashmore, have accepted plea deals and will be testifying against them. They are expected to support allegations that guns were involved in the robbery, the most contentious point of the charges.
What’s interesting is that of the eight men involved in the situation, six have had previous run-ins with the law.
Throngs of reporters and media outlets have turned out at the Regional Justice Center, where the preliminary hearing is expected to last until Friday. According to a Review Journal article, over 170 media credentials have been issued.
And all this is for a man who was denied lodgings by several major hotels.
